The future of property insurance is proactive. The Hartford’s IoT Lab partnered with us to explore how connected devices could move the industry beyond reactive claims processing toward risk prevention and value-added services.

We mapped the landscape of emerging IoT technologies and conducted research with early adopters to understand adoption barriers and trust factors. Working closely with The Hartford’s innovation team, we developed and tested concepts that reimagine how IoT can drive both underwriting value and customer experience.

Key opportunity areas emerged across leak detection, fire prevention, and remote diagnostics—with a focus on making insights actionable and usable, not just another data stream. Our prototypes emphasized transparency, user control, and ecosystem integration—essential for driving trust and long-term engagement.

Two of the concepts we developed are now guiding The Hartford’s long-term IoT roadmap, moving from lab innovation to commercial opportunity. The project also helped refine broader strategic principles for bringing IoT into the core of The Hartford’s customer value proposition.
